Missions

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:8

The Great Commission calls us to make disciples of all nations and Jesus' instruction to his disciples at the beginning of the book of Acts gives us a template getting started. It is a call to make disciples in three spheres: Our own backyard, the country we live in, and the rest of the world. Because of this, we are committed to having a mission strategy that never ignores our most immediate neighbors and also makes a point to take the Gospel to the nations.

Local

We believe that God has uniquely situated our church and its people in the city of Lavonia and in Franklin County to share the Gospel and to demonstrate it through loving service to our most immediate neighbors. We do this through partnerships with organizations like the Boyd Outz Learning Center and the Lavonia Food Pantry, as well as through living out our faith on a daily basis.

National

At the Journey FBC Lavonia, we partner with GraceWorks Alaska to help reach an unchurched and non-religious culture with the Gospel and connect people with local churches to insure followup and discipleship.

International

From beginning to end, the Bible expresses God's desire "that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no one else." (1 Kings 8:60) We partner with missionaries to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth in the hopes that all may know.

Making disciples of all nations is the call for every follower of Jesus Christ. Participating in missions can be done by praying, giving, and going. Not everyone is able to do them all, but everyone has the ability to pray for the Gospel to go to the ends of the earth and for people to come into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Please pray with us in these specific ways:

Pray for the people of Lavonia and Franklin County to know and follow Jesus.

Pray for our mission teams and partners to be effective disciple makers.

Pray for a different nation each day.
